Project Description

Unemployment is one of the problem in entire world. Especially when it come to the underdeveloped countries in Asia like Pakistan things get worse for marginalized communities. Because the individuals belongs to such marginalized society such as transgender people they don’t have adequate educational skills to go for white collar jobs. The only options they left with to feed themselves is either by begging on the roads, sex workers or dancers in weddings. There are approximately 10,000/- registered members belongs to this vulnerable society according to the recent consensus taken place in 2017. But according to the transgender activist there are million others untapped. The project t-uplift Pakistan is designed to facilitate two societal segments. It will cater the transgender people from Lahore region by recruiting them in car washing facility especially designed to female drivers. Female is stigmatized as a piece of object in a male dominant Pakistani society. There are several female drivers in Lahore city who have to be dependent upon their fathers & father in laws, husbands, and brothers to get the car washed. There is no existing facility in the city for the female drivers where they can visit with no fear of being harassed / overcharged by anyway. This project will not only empower the female drivers but will also set the transgender people free from the “guru chella” system which is mostly exploitative for the rest of their lives. By this they can have their own independent livelihood according to their own will. Personal Introduction: Farhan is a Pakistani national born in Libya.
